Happy WORLD VEGETARIAN DAY!

Hi everyone!

First of all, thanks for the Wordpress suggestions. Is there anyone out there that can spend a few minutes/hours with me helping me out? I'll pay you in baked goods/money/champagne cocktails/book recommendations. Send me an email! I need help!

In other news, today is World Vegetarian Day. This is also Vegan Blogging Month, officially called Vegan MoFo (Vegan Month of Food). If you have a blog and you're vegan or vegetarian or eat plants sometimes, you can participate. Write as often as possible about vegan-related things--try for 20 times this month.
I am unofficially participating--considering I'll be in Turkey for 11 days, I won't be able to blog half the time. I guess we'll see how it works out.

Anyway, here are some ideas to celebrate Vegetarian Day, which kicks off Vegetarian Awareness Month.

~Ways to celebrate World Vegetarian Day/Vegetarian Awareness Month~

* Visit your local vegan feeding-hole or watering-hole. In Portland try Green Wok, Blossoming Lotus, Portobello Vegan Trattoria, Back to Eden (obviously), and Sweetpea.

* Eat one plant-based meal a day. Experiment more with fruits and vegetables, grains, pastas and beans. For some budget ideas and recipes, head over here.

* Watch Earthlings, a feature-length documentary narrated by the dreamy Joaquin Phoenix. It may inspire you in ways you can't even imagine.

* Buy a container of soy creamer (Silk) or even better, coconut creamer (So Delicious) instead of your regular dairy creamer this month.

* Invite a vegetarian or vegan friend over and challenge yourself to make something new and creative for them.

* Make a pizza like you normally would, but leave off the cheese and meat. Add more veggies. It is quite delicious, and you won't feel bad about yourself after eating the whole thing.

* Go to the Bye and Bye. Eat their grilled cheese sandwich.

* Read a book about animals. Check out John Robbins, Gail Eiznitz, Jeffrey Masson, or Peter Singer.

* Try to cause the least amount of harm. Live with the most amount of compassion. No one is judging you. Aim for living a life in harmony with other living beings.

* Head to Alu and have a glass of their vegan biodynamic wines.

* Eat a vegan cupcake. Plant foods naturally do no contain cholesterol, so any vegan treat you eat is cholesterol-free.

Happy October, everyone!
